Food additive magnesium chloride E511 (food grade magnesium chloride) is an emulsifier used in the food industry as a hardener (thickener). This additive is especially often used in the production of cottage cheese and cheeses, including tofu cheese ("soy curd").

The food additive complies with the requirements of TR CU 021/2011 "On food safety", TR CU 022/2011 "Food products in terms of their labeling", TR CU 029/2012 "Safety requirements for food additives, flavorings and technological aids".
